Upcoming Events and Parade Reports

  Veterans Day Parade, Chillicothe, Ohio

Write up from Maggie Herlensky:

Well, Bud and I survived his first parade. The only problem was the wide stripe at the stop sign that he refused to cross. He calmly sidepassed to the end of it, walked around it, and went back to his place in line. We had seven riders performing with us: Me, Hannah Perkins, Rebecca Woods, Mary Jo Wisecup, Candy Carlson, and Sue and Vicky Henkel. We wore dark aprons, patriotic vests, and black helmets. The horses all had red, silver, and blue bows in manes and tails and their hooves were all glittered.

There wasn't a huge crowd, but I do think it was bigger than the years that the parade was downtown. The inpatients really seemed to enjoy it. Some of those older guys never leave the ward except for doctor's appointments. One of the units had all of their patients in wheelchairs, wrapped in blankets, and covered in garbage bags to protect them from the rain, lined up outside their building,
watching the parade go by. Melissa Peters took her mini horse right up to the patients. You should have seen their eyes light up. I saw quite a few faces in the windows, waving back at us.

It started to sprinkle about halfway through and lightly raining by the time we got finished. I was getting a little chilly, so when one of the girls  suggested McDonald's, everyone wanted to go. So all of us and one of the other equine units loaded up and hauled to McD's.
